Sailing Lessons at SYC
Nothing is better for kids ages 8-16 to get out and learn how to sail. The SYC offers weekly lessons and is right down the road! Growing up here this was a major part of life! Morning lessons for Beginners and Afternoons for the more advanced interested in racing . Races Wednesday and Saturday!
Boat and Kayak Rentals
The best way to see town is from the water. Rent a retro boat, paddle out in a kayak, or charter a pontoon for the day! There's many great options all within walking distance! Pontoons are available across the river, kayaks can be rented at Wades Bayou in Douglas, and paddleboards at Just Add Water.
Harbor Duck Tours
Take a ride with Brent on the Duck! The Duck leaves Saugatuck on the hour and Douglas about 15 minutes past the hour. Enjoy Saugatuck & Douglas in the only locally operated amphibious WWII war machine turned Touring Water Taxi! “See Two Towns. One River. One Harbor.”
Star of Saugatuck
Take a guided tour on a town landmark! The famous paddle wheel powered vessel offers an open air deck and air conditioned lower level perfect for a guided tour out to the lake. Learn about the history of the town and take in the scenic beauty!
Dune Rides
Take a 40 minute thrill ride through the sand dunes along the coast of Lake Michigan! Learn of the lost town of Singapore and check out our local vegetation and wildlife. Just up the Blue Star Hwy less than 10 mins from the Hill!
Serenity Sailing
Schooner Serenity is a two-masted, gaff-rigged schooner that features two cozy cabins and a charming teak-accented deck. BYOB and choose between sitting back and relaxing or chipping in and helping the crew raise the sails!
The Flying Dutchman
Set up as a "floating bar with a view" you can take a cruise either private or public and relax as a licensed captain leisurely takes you up and down the river. Located less than 5 minutes down the road!
Oval Beach
Famous Oval Beach is a short walk and even shorter drive from the Hill. Take the kids and kick back and enjoy the gorgeous fresh water and sand on the shore of mighty Lake Michigan! Entry is free if you walk a small fee applies to park a vehicle.

Downtown Shopping
Downtown Saugatuck and Douglas are both renowned for their abundance of local shops, galleries, and gift stores. There's something for everyone down here so spend a day strolling though town and maybe even snag an ice cream cone along the way!
Center for the Arts
Saugatuck / Douglas is known as the Art Coast of Michigan. There's no place that this is better celebrated than the SCA. Come see a traveling exibit or a broadway play right here in town. Check their website for events as they are always changing!

Starting in 2022 Alcoholic Beverages may be purchased 'to go' from participating venues within the Social District and enjoyed while walking through town, shopping, or stopping to enjoy the parks and waterfront. Enjoy responsibly from 11 A.M. to 11 P.M!
Douglas Social District
Beginning in 2021, Douglas began allowing alcoholic beverages to be purchased from participating venues and enjoyed along the Main Street social district. Hours are from 11 A.M. to 11 P.M. Enjoy Responsibly!

Visit a Local Vineyard
Take a 10 minute drive out into the countryside and tour one of the several local vineyards. The Fenn Valley estate is a 240 acre farm located five miles from Lake Michigan just south of Holland, Michigan. The site was chosen after reviewing weather, climate, and soil survey maps.
Crane's Orchard
In the Fall there's nothing more fun than going to pick your own apples, or enjoying the sprawling corn maze. Head to the pie pantry for home cooked comfort food and a spiked cider tasting. Crane's has something for all ages and is has been a community staple for generations.
Local Breweries
Michigan is second to none on the craft beer scene. Some of the best come from right here in the Saugauck and Holland area. Go on a brewery tour and you can even make your own to pick up on a future visit! Live music and games often pair well with a local pilsner, lager, or IPA!
Visit a Roasting Facility
Visit our friends at Uncommon Coffee roasters and become a roaster for the day! In this class you can learn about the process of roasting coffee from start to finish, all the variables and science that go into roasting, and participate in a roast yourself. By the end of the day you can take home 10lbs of your custom blend to share with friends and family.
Comedy Show
Head to the famous Coral Gables to see a comedy show. Pull up a chair and grab a drink and prepare to laugh the night away as headlining comics from around the country make a stop in Saugatuck to perform at Mike Johnson's comedy night! Check the schedule at Coral Gables for event information!
Blueberry Farm
Blue Star Farms, Inc. is a large-acreage, family owned farm located just two miles out of Douglas/Saugatuck. During the season, they offer hand picked blueberries in their U-Pick store, they custom harvest and process blueberries, and offer frozen blueberries all year round.
